What is Trauma?

Trauma is a term that originally referred to physical injuries, particularly those caused by blunt force or heavy blows to the head or body. However, it is now also used to describe emotional wounds or negative experiences that can have long-lasting effects on a person’s mental health.

Research has shown that trauma can lead to the development of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which is a psychological condition characterized by persistent negative feelings and behaviors in response to a traumatic event.

Trauma can be caused by a wide range of events, including accidents, violent crimes, and the loss of a loved one. These events can be emotionally devastating and can leave a person struggling to cope with the aftermath.

Symptoms of Trauma

Symptoms of trauma that may arise after a traumatic event, such as an accident, can include:

  • Over-reacting to certain situations with little control over emotions
  • Difficulty relaxing the mind or body
  • Reliving a traumatic scene in the mind, known as flashbacks
  • Physical issues such as headaches and nausea.
  • Concentration and memory problems
  • Mood fluctuations, including anger and tantrums
  • Anxiety disorders, such as panic attacks, physical pain, depression, and stress
  • Nightmares and other sleep disorders

It is important to take the symptoms of trauma and PTSD seriously, as they can prevent you from moving forward in life and may even lead to a complete emotional breakdown.

While medications can be effective in managing the symptoms of trauma and PTSD, they do not address the underlying causes of these conditions. As a result, it is common for the symptoms to return once medication is stopped.

Hypnotherapy has been shown to be an effective, evidence-based treatment for trauma and PTSD that addresses the root of the problem. While medications can provide temporary relief, hypnotherapy aims to resolve the underlying issues that contribute to the development of these conditions. This can help individuals to better cope with their feelings and move forward in a healthy and positive way.

What I offer

These sessions are for anyone suffering from PTSD, emotional or traumatic ties from the past or anything you feel is holding you back.

Before booking in we will have a telephone consultation to discuss what the issue is and how we should proceed.

The session is 2 hours long. I will be using hypnotherapy and may also use IEMT, EFT and some self help techniques for you to use at home. This is a pretty full on and intensive session but I have had some fantastic results with this. You will see reviews posted within my Facebook page and also HERE.

I’ve undergone this myself to help me get over a 30 year old fear of going on holiday. This was due to the trauma I suffered after my mum died very suddenly while on holiday. Last year in 2022, I was finally able to go off on holiday!

I’m passionate about what I do, and more so because I’ve been there. Yes all our experiences are different, but we still get it to a degree. I’ve tried so many different things over the years, hypnotherapy included, and they didn’t work for me. But the way this session is run is very different to your usual hypnotherapy sessions.

***Please note that further sessions may be required if anything significant comes up during this session. These will be charged by y hourly rate***.

Please feel free to contact me, or book yourself in for a free 30 minute discovery call and we can decide the best route to go down.
